American Electric Power Company, Inc. (AEP), incorporated in 1906, is a public utility holding company that owns, directly or indirectly, all of the outstanding common stock of its public utility subsidiaries and varying percentages of other subsidiaries. The public utility subsidiaries of AEP are AEP Generating Company (AEGCo), AEP Texas Central Company (TCC), AEP Texas North Company (TNC), Appalachian Power Company (APCo), Columbus Southern Power Company (CSPCo), Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M), Kentucky Power Company (KPCo), Ohio Power Company (OPCo), Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) and Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCo). The service areas of AEP's public utility subsidiaries cover portions of the states of Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. The generating and transmission facilities of AEP's public utility subsidiaries are interconnected and their operations are coordinated. Transmission networks are interconnected with extensive distribution facilities in the territories served. AEP also owns a service company subsidiary, American Electric Power Service Corporation (AEPSC). AEPSC provides accounting, administrative, information systems, engineering, financial, legal, maintenance and other services at cost to the AEP System companies.
