United Utilities PLC operates water and wastewater systems in the United Kingdom. The Company owns and operates an electricity network, operate a gas network and provide multi-utility metering and connections services. Its asset owning operations, comprising United Utilities Water PLC (UUW) and United Utilities Electricity PLC (UUE), hold licenses to provide water and wastewater services and electricity distribution services, respectively, to a population of some seven million people in north west England. The Company reports through two business segments: United Utilities North West and United Utilities Contract Solutions. Other activities include United Utilities Property Solutions (UUPS), the property trading and management business of United Utilities PLC, which owns land and property assets.
