Default Best virtual stock market

As was brought up in another post, the best way to learn how the stock market works is to try one of the virtual stock market simulations online. One of the best ones that I have found is completely free and you will start off with up to $500,000 virtual money. They offer penny stocks, day trading, etc, just as you would encounter on the real stock market but without any loss of money. The only difference is the information is delayed by 15-20 minutes so there isn't that real time advantage.

I might try this out before I actually try the stock market out. It could give me a little better idea on what to do and what to look for. Excellent find, thanks a lot.

Games like that are a wonderful learning tool. You can play about, take a virtual portfolio and generally do things that you would never do with your own real money.

I didn't have an online game to play with, but when I started out I kept a virtual portfolio and just used paper to track pretend trades whilst I got the hang of things.

That's a good idea too. Doing it on paper will work just fine but the simulations give you more of a feel of actual trading without quite so much work. Plus the site offers a lot of information to help novices learn how everything works.

Yes you normally get more in the way of tips. It wasn't by choice that I learned that way, I just pre-date the simulated stock games so I had to do it the hard way.

I am getting started on here now. Apparently you can chose your starting investment, which is good for me. I hope to have a little fun on here.

You'll have to keep us posted as to your progress. I would love to follow how you do and how you make your decisions. Then we can see how well you do over all and perhaps give you a bit of guidance once in a while.

Well, at first I haven't really done too much, I bought 2500 shares of Sprint at 2.52 a share. Now it has gone up to 2.66, which is a $350 virtual profit for me. I will try and get some more tomorrow.
