(RTTNews) - Four Latin Americans, arrested at Dubai airport following their daring diamond robbery from a jewelry show in India, will be handed over to India soon.

Mexicans Elvia Grissel Guerrero Lugo (24), Mauricio Gonzalez Maldonado (24) and Elias Campos Molan (39) besides Gutierez Orlando of Venezuela are said to have carried out the robbery Monday evening at the India International Jewelry Show 2010 in the Indian major western metropolis Mumbai.

A Mumbai police team will leave for Dubai to bring the four back along with the diamonds, weighing 887 carats and worth $1.76 million.

Police said the theft of the diamonds, belonging to Israel's Dalumi Group, occurred at the five-day exhibition held at a suburb.

Members of Mumbai police's crime branch found that the three men and one woman had arrived in the metropolis August 17, two days before the jewelry show. While Venezualan Orlando, stayed at one hotel, the three Mexicans stayed at another.

Ninety minutes before the show was to end Monday, the quartet conducted the robbery and left by the rear gate. The Latinos returned to their different hotels before regrouping at the airport to board the 10-p.m. Emirates Mumbai-Dubai-Hamburg flight.

The police scanned the faces of nearly 1,500 visitors on close circuit TV (CCTV) and identified the group, but, by then, the latter flew out of the country. The four, who had swallowed the precious stones, were arrested at the Dubai airport after the Interpol wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) contacted its counterparts in Dubai.
