Dish TV Crosses 8 Mln. Subscriber Base; Ups Its Acquisition Target In FY11
(RTTNews) - India's leading DTH service provider Dish TV India Ltd. said it had crossed the momentous 8 million subscriber base.
Dish TV said it had maintained it leadership position in the fiercely competitive Indian DTH industry, ever since it commenced its operations in 2004- 2005.
With more than 2 million subscribers being added every quarter, DTH industry is poised to overtake the current leader (US), which currently adds around .5 million subscribers every year. BskyB, UK's leading, New Corp., owned DTH service provider is now just around 1 million more than Dish TV subscribers.
Considering the prospects for the year ahead, the management has re-worked on its subscriber acquisition target for the current fiscal and is hopeful of adding at least 3 million subscriber during the whole of fiscal year 2011.
At the BSE, Dish TV shares are currently trading at Rs.50.50, up by 0.60% from the previous close.
