Amur Minerals, Aurum Mining, Landore Resources, Shanta Gold news briefs
Amur Minerals has now received results from four of the holes drilled during its 2012 programme at the eastern limits of the Maly Kurumkon target area of its Kun-Manie nickel-copper sulphide project, Russia. Three of the four holes intersected economic grades of nickel and copper mineralisation within the pyroxenite host rock, with average nickel and copper grades of 0.77% and 0.24% respectively using a 0.20% nickel cutoff grade. These grades are 35% higher for nickel and 50% higher for copper than that which was intersected in the existing drill holes at the target located 100m to the west. A portion of the newly drilled mineralisation lies within the already planned Maly Kurumkon pit in rock that previously had been categorised as waste due to a lack of information. The inclusion of this new drill data to update resource and open pit reserve modelling of Maly Kurumkon will be undertaken when results of current drilling are available from the adjacent Flangovy target; as the Company believe these current returned results confirm that the mineralisation could continue from the Maly Kurumkon deposit toward Flangovy, resulting in a total mineralised length of nearly 2km.
Aurum Mining has released an operational update for its gold and tungsten project in north-west Spain. The acquisition of the five tungsten permits in the Salamanca Province has now been completed for a total cost of €165,200, with the vendor retaining a 1.5% net smelter royalty in the project. The group of five permits includes the Morille area, which has a history of previous tungsten production, and for which the Company intends to focus its work with the hope to commence initial drilling before the end of CY 2012. With regard to the Company's JV gold projects with Ormonde Mining, work is focusing on expanding the potential resource on the Pino permit area through the identification of additional mineralised structures near to El Facho, where the current estimated resource stands in the region of 122,000-145,000 ounces based on a 0.3 g/t cut off. At the Peralonso permit, encouraging assay results were released earlier this year and a 7 hole drill programme is planned for September to extend its knowledge of potential near surface gold structures.
Landore Resources has provided a drilling update for its Junior Lake Project. The programme has extended the B4-7 Nickel-Copper-Cobalt-PGEs deposit so that it has now been delineated over 800m of strike length with the massive sulphide mineralisation remaining open to the west along strike and down dip. At the adjacent B4-8 prospect, B4-7 massive sulphide mineralisation has been intersected with grades of > 1% nickel and > 1% copper plus significant credits of cobalt and platinum group metals. Work has commenced on an upgraded resource estimate for the B4-7 deposit, scheduled for completion in Q4 2012.
Shanta Gold following news that production had commenced at the Company's New Luika Mine in south western Tanzania, Shanta Gold has now announced that the first gold pour was successfully completed on Friday 31 August 2012. The Company has therefore met its target of first gold pour by end of August 2012 and reiterates its production target of 13,000 - 17,500 ozs of gold production in Q4 2012.
