ENL is a leading entertainment company in the television space in India. The company operates two music channels viz., ETC Hindi and ETC Punjabi. ZILSL is a Zee Group company into education (pre-school and high-school spaces, under the “Kidzee” brand name, media arts and digital animation training). ZILSL has been merged with ENL. Post-merger, ENL will have presence in both entertainment and education businesses. Main synergies of the merger: - Capital infusion from ENL’s cash rich entertainment business into the education business. - The education business can use the studios and the up-linking facilities of ENL. - The entertainment business will benefit from the media arts division of the education business. - The merged entity will enjoy tax breaks, as the education business has accumulated losses of Rs36Cr. - The company plans to have an educational channel, going forward.
