EMED Mining has released an update on exploration for underground mine potential within its Detva Gold Project, at its Banka Stiavnica licence in Slovakia. Three holes were drilled at the Quartzlager prospect (results overleaf). Work in 2012 has focused on the digitisation of old workings and initial scout drilling.

The three drill holes have delineated a flat dipping, un-mined portion of an epithermal vein that extends 100m up dip of historical workings. The strike length is yet to be determined.

The grades are typical of the field's epithermal veins which are mostly silver rich structures have a ratio of 1:1.

It is early days, but the first three holes all intersected gold. Interestingly, the highest grade intercept was also the widest. This is a very encouraging start, and we would like to see more results so that we can better gauge the extent and the overall grade.

At the Detva Gold Project, a local action group raised concerns about environmental impacts and the security of employment at industrial enterprises near the deposit. EMED agreed to a temporary postponement of its application for a MLA and commissioned and published two independent reports, a Preliminary Social Impact study and a Preliminary Economic/Technical study. During the one month consultation period, few relevant comments and objections were received and no new material issues raised. These matters will be taken into account once the MLA has been progressed.
