• UK stock market morning note (September 04, 2015)

The FTSE 100 is called to open lower this morning following the mixed overnight performances on Wall Street and in Asia with investors in cautious mood ahead of the US non-farm payrolls data due out at lunchtime. The economic diary today also sees the start of the G20 meetings which will conclude tomorrow together with a speech from the FOMC member Jeffrey Lacker just ahead of the release of non-farms. Commodity prices are flat to lower and on the foreign exchanges, the pound is slightly weaker against the dollar and the euro ahead of the US jobs news and Jeffrey Lacker's speech, which will be scrutinised for any direction on the timing of a move in US interest rates. It is a quiet end to this shortened trading week for major corporate news.

    Company Announcements

    AstraZeneca

It has announced that the US FDA has approved an expanded indication for its BRILINTA tablets to include long term use in patients with a history of heart attack beyond the first year. The company added that this was an important milestone underscoring the role that BRILINTA can play in reducing the risk of a subsequent cardiovascular event for patients both in the acute setting and in the longer term.
