USA stock market daily report by Millenium Traders (June 8, 2009, Monday, 10.30 p.m. GMT)

| 17:56 EST | 04:26 IST | 06:56 SGT

By 4:00 pm ET today, the Supreme Court will act on an appeal introduced by three Indiana pension funds who are fighting Chrysler's sale to Fiat. The Obama administration is urging the Supreme Court to not delay the sale of Chrysler sale to Fiat warning of "grave consequences." The three pension funds are putting in the argument that the deal between the two automakers, Chrysler and Fiat, unfairly favors unsecured creditors over senior secured creditors. It stands under bankruptcy law that secured creditors are first in line to receive any financial proceeds from a bankruptcy, followed by unsecured creditors and lastly, all stockholders. The three pension funds hold over $42 billion in secured Chrysler debt. Fiat has the option to walk away from the deal if it does not go through by June 15.

Trading activity was slow on the session with major U.S. indices holding in the red zone for most of the day. Into the final hour of trading, day traders and investors watched as the markets posted a slight rebound into the green zone. Profit taking was all but inevitable after recent gains seen across the board. It appears that investors are once again concerned over the potential of an interest rate hike, in the near term future. We've seen the price at the pump follow a steady rise for some time now. All time high at the pump occurred last year at near $4.10 a gallon. Recent low was at $1.60 a gallon and current average price sits at $2.61 a gallon. With the steady rise on a barrel of crude, so shall the rise continue, at the pump.
