Whitbread PLC is engaged in the operation of hotels and restaurants, as well as coffee shops. The Company operates in two segments: Hotels & Restaurants and Costa. The Hotels & Restaurants segment provides services in relation to accommodation and food. Costa generates income from the operation of its branded, owned and franchised coffee outlets. The Company’s brands include Premier Inn, Costa, hub by Premier Inn, Beefeater Grill, Brewers Fayre, Table Table and Taybarns. The Company operates over 670 Premier Inns and 400 restaurants around the United Kingdom, five hotels in the Middle East and three in India. Costa, with approximately 1,750 coffee shops in the United Kingdom and 1,106 overseas, has a multi–channel strategy, with equity stores, franchise stores and stores operated by joint ventures, as well as a wholesale operation.
