Afren (LON:AFR) report: Rig Contract

- Afren and partners Oriental Energy and Amni International have signed a contract for an additional rig from Transocean. GSF High Island VII JU will drill offshore south east Nigeria
- The rig is for development, appraisal and exploration drilling around Ebok, Okwok OML 115 and infill drilling at Okoro
- Exploration well to test the Ebok Deep intervals; one appraisal well to define size of Okwok field and development requirements; One to test prospectivity surrounding OML 115; six development wells for Ph2 Ebok West and two infill at Okoro
- Duration up to 210 days; US$84,000 day rate
- Spud date is expected at the end of March
