Xstrata (LON:XTA) report: George Fisher mine expansion approved

- Xstrata has announced that it has approved an investment of A$274m in its George Fisher underground zinc mine at Mount Isa in Australia.
- The investment will expand production capacity by around 30% from 2013, taking it from 3.5 mt/y to 4.5 mt/y.
- The George Fisher mine hosts one of the worlds largest resources of zinc it currently hosts a remaining reserve of 76 mt and has a planned life of 21 years.
