Views on markets today

- Benchmark share indices ended at fresh all-time closing highs on Monday, amid aggressive buying in late trades, with capital goods and bank shares leading the gains.

The 30-share Sensex gained 136 points to end at 22,765 and the 50-share Nifty ended up 3- points at 6,-1-.

- CRISIL rose 2.49%, in the morning trade, to Rs 1,26- on BSE, with the stock extending Thursday's 1.9-% gains triggered by the company reporting strong Q1 earnings.

- Berger Paints India closed 1.10% down at Rs 242.95 on BSE on profit booking after the stock jumped 6.37% in the preceding four trading sessions to Rs 245.65 on 17th April, 2014, from a recent low of Rs 230.95 on 10th April, 2014.

- Oil India closed 0.47% up at Rs 4-0.00 on BSE after the company said it has entered into an agreement with PetroNeft Resources Plc, in respect of 50% non-operating interest in License 61, Tomsk Oblast, Russian Federation.

- Himalya International was locked at 20% upper circuit at Rs 15.51 on BSE after the firm said its board will meet on 26th April, 2014, to review finances to achieve the financial goals for FY 2015 and arrange the funding required for FY 2015

- The Ramco Cement closed 3.17% up at Rs 220.10 on BSE on profit booking after the stock jumped 10.34% in the preceding six trading sessions to Rs 227.30 on 17th April, 2014, from a recent low of Rs 206 on 7th April, 2014.

- Sesa Sterlite closed 4.7-% up at Rs 201.-0 on BSE on reports Supreme Court allows resumption of iron ore mining in Goa with conditions.

- Hindustan Zinc closed 0.46% up at Rs 132.20 on BSE after net profit fell 13.14% to Rs 1,--1.20 crore on 1.-1% decline in total income to Rs 4,231.34 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Liberty Shoes closed 14.43% up at Rs 1-7.60 on BSE after net profit surged 340.21% to Rs 4.27 crore on 35.4% increase in net sales to Rs 142.05 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Among the 12 BSE Sectoral indices - indices closed in positive while 4 indices ended the day in negative. Top Gainers: BSE Capital Goods up by 2.91%, BSE Metal by 2.23%. Top Losers: BSE IT by 0.6-% and BSE FMCG by 0.39%.

Market breadth was positive at ~1.07 as investors bought large cap stocks. On provisional basis, FII's bought Rs.2.13bn worth of Indian equities and DII's sold Rs.2.17bn worth of equities.

- Reliance Industries rose 0.72%, in the opening trade, to Rs 965.65 on BSE after net profit rose 0.-% to Rs 5,631 crore on 12.9% growth in turnover to Rs 97,-07 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Wipro closed 6.65% down at Rs 546.60 on BSE after consolidated net profit from continuing operations surged 41% to Rs 2,230 crore on 22% growth in revenue from continuing operations to Rs 11,700 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- TCS closed 0.14% up at Rs 2,220.50 on BSE after the company said it has signed definitive agreements with Mitsubishi Corporation, one of Japan's largest integrated business enterprises to merge TCS Japan, ITF and NTSC.

- Wendt (India) closed 1.59% down at Rs 1,163.05 on BSE after consolidated net profit fell 25.91% to Rs 2.03 crore on 20.96% increase in total income from operations to Rs 29.60 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Edelweiss Financial Services closed 9.12% up at Rs 35.90 on BSE after the company said its board of directors will meet on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2014, to consider buy-back of equity shares of the company.

- Shasun Pharmaceuticals hit an upper circuit limit of 20% at Rs 105.30 on BSE after the company said its board will meet on 23rd April, 2014, to consider issuing convertible warrants, equity shares on preferential basis to promoters.

- Natco Pharma closed 7.50% up at Rs 769.35 on BSE after the company said that Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts has denied Teva's application for an injunction seeking to prevent launch of a generic version of Copaxone.

- AstraZeneca Pharma India jumped 5.20%, in the late afternoon trade, to Rs 1,109 on BSE on reports US-based Pfizer has approached London-based AstraZeneca PLC for a 60 billion pound takeover.

- Swadeshi Industries & Leasing rose 3.11%, in the opening trade, to Rs 3-4.-5 on BSE after the company said its board of directors will meet on Thursday, 24th April, 2014, to consider stock-split.

Tech Mahindra closed 0.17% up at Rs 1,772.-5 on BSE after the company said it has entered into a pact to acquire 75% stake in FSNI, a technology startup company subject to necessary regulatory approvals, at a consideration of $10 million.

Hero MotoCorp closed 1.29% at Rs 2,246.20 on BSE after the company said it launched its operations in Bangladesh through a joint venture with Nitol Niloy Group.

LIC Housing Finance closed 1.37% up at Rs 273.15 on BSE after net profit rose 17.04% to Rs 370.02 crore on 19.43% increase in total income to Rs 24,77.94 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

ALSTOM India closed 1.56% up at Rs 39-.30 on BSE after the company said it has secured a contract worth close to euro 30 million from Bharat Heavy Electricals.
