Views on markets today

- The markets scaled fresh all-time highs on the last day of April derivatives series due to strength in capital goods and banking stocks.

The Sensex ended at 22,-77, higher by 11- points and the Nifty ended at 6-40, up 25 points.

- VST Industries closed 6.65% up at Rs 1,-97.45 on BSE after net profit rose 49.37% to Rs 51.-9 crore on 1-.11% rise in net sales to Rs 1--.9- crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Yes Bank closed 1.67% up at Rs 441.55 on BSE after net profit rose 1-.79% to Rs 430.21 crore on 13% growth in total income to Rs 3,013.57 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur closed 3.09% up at Rs 350.20 on BSE after net profit jumped 33.32% to Rs 237.63 crore on 15.33% growth in total income to Rs 2,453.94 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Mahindra & Mahindra closed 1.22% up at Rs 1036.75 on BSE after the company said its Agri division signed a joint venture agreement with Holland-based HZPC.

- SKF India closed 2.00% down at Rs -15.30 on BSE on profit booking after recent gains after net profit surged -9.72% to Rs 49.10 crore on -.25% growth in total income from operations to Rs 579.47 crore in Q1 March, 2014 over Q1 March, 2013.

- Mastek closed 2.69% down at Rs 193.75 on BSE after consolidated net profit fell 3-.3% to Rs 11.30 crore on 5.1% decline in total income to Rs 230 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q3 December, 2013.

- LIC Housing Finance closed 0.49% up at Rs 279.65 on BSE, extending recent gains triggered by the company's good Q4 March, 2014 results.

Among the 12 BSE Sectoral indices 7 indices closed in positive while 5 indices ended the day in negative. Top Gainers: BSE Capital Goods up by 1.49%, BSE Bankex by 1.12%. Top Losers: BSE Realty by 1.2-% and BSE Consumer Durables by 0.--%.

Market breadth was positive at ~1.0- as investors bought large cap stocks. On provisional basis, FII's bought Rs.7.67bn worth of Indian equities and DII's sold Rs.5.34bn worth of equities.


Buzzing Stocks

- Reliance Industries closed 0.15% down at Rs 966.-5 on BSE after the company said it has signed loan co-financed by JBIC and Japanese banks backed by Nippon Export and Investment Insurance for up to $550 million.

- Shasun Pharmaceuticals closed 5.6-% up at Rs 123.70 on BSE, with the stock extending recent steep rally triggered by the announcement that its board will consider issuing convertible warrants/equity shares on preferential basis to promoters.

- Rallis India closed 7.77% up at Rs 179.65 on BSE after consolidated net profit jumped 71.40% to Rs 19.30 crore on 16.35% increase in net total income from operations to Rs 331.46 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Zensar Technologies closed 3.03% up at Rs 3-2.30 on BSE after consolidated net profit surged 41.3% to Rs 55.25 crore on 1-.6% growth in revenue to Rs 602.54 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers spurted 11.70%, in the morning trade, to Rs 69.20 on BSE after Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals announced an open offer to acquire up to 26% stake from the public shareholders of the company.

- Dr Reddy's Laboratories closed 0.50% up at Rs 2565.45 on BSE after the firm said it has launched Fenofibrate Capsules, USP 43 mg and 130 mg in the US market on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2014.

- Lupin closed 0.52% up at Rs 9-7.25 on BSE after the company said it signed a strategic joint venture agreement with Japan's Yoshindo Inc.

- Muthoot Finance closed 3.29% up at Rs 169.00 on BSE after the company said it has fixed price band of Rs 155 to Rs 165 per share for institutional placement of up to 2.53 crore equity shares.

- MRF rose 2.22%, in the morning trade, to Rs 22,365.15 on BSE on bargain hunting after the stock tumbled 7.-7% in the preceding two trading sessions to Rs 21,-79.50 on 22nd April, 2014, from a recent high of Rs 23,74-.90 on 17th April, 2014.

- Himalya International was locked at 10% upper circuit at Rs 1-.76 on BSE, with the stock extending recent rally triggered by the statement that its board will meet to review finances to achieve the financial goals for FY 2015.

- Seamec closed 2.56% down at Rs 97.00 on BSE after HAL Offshore announced an open offer for acquisition of upto --.14 lakh equity shares of the company at an offer price of Rs 97 per share.

- Prestige Estates Projects closed 4.-5% up at Rs 174.10 on BSE on bargain hunting after the stock tumbled 7.52% in the preceding six trading sessions to Rs 166.05 on 22nd April, 2014, from a recent high of Rs 179.55 on 10th April, 2014.

- Phoenix Mills closed 9.2-% down to Rs 246.00 on BSE on profit booking after the stock rose 13.64% in the preceding eight trading sessions to Rs 271.15 on 22nd April, 2014, from a recent low of Rs 23-.60 on 7th April, 2014.
