Views on markets today

- Markets ended lower, amid a range bound trading session on Monday, tracking weakness among Asian peers. Further, uncertainty of the election outcome despite opinion polls indicating victory for the BJP-led NDA government weighed on market sentiment.

The 30-share Sensex ended down 56 points at 22,632 and the 50-share Nifty ended down 22 points at 6,761.

- Hindustan Unilever closed 0.02% down at Rs 5-0.60 on BSE after net profit rose 10.7-% to Rs -72.13 crore on 10.24% growth in total income to Rs 7,244.73 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Symphony closed 6.37% up at Rs -36.05 on BSE after net profit surged 50.16% to Rs 27.03 crore on 32.41% growth in total income from operations to Rs 116.29 crore in Q3 March, 2014 over Q3 March, 2013.

- Godrej Consumer Products closed 2.76% down at Rs 7-3.25 on BSE, after consolidated net profit declined 29.2-% to Rs 236.2- crore on 12.19% growth in total income from operations (net) to Rs 1,931.52 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- IDFC lost 2.72%, in the morning trade, to Rs 111.00 on BSE after consolidated net profit declined 50.93% to Rs 257.94 crore on 0.05% growth in total income to Rs 2,219.57 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- Siemens gained 2.36%, in the opening trade, to Rs 757.30 on BSE after net profit jumped 194.7% to Rs --.27 crore on -.6% fall in net sales to Rs 2,657.74 crore in Q2 March, 2014 over Q2 March, 2013.

- Among the 12 BSE Sectoral indices 5 indices closed in positive while 7 indices ended the day in negative. Top Gainers: BSE Healthcare up by 1.65%, bSe Realty by 0.57%. Top Losers: BSE Capital Goods by 1.01% and BSE Auto by 0.97%.

Market breadth was positive at ~1.0- as investors bought large cap stocks. On provisional basis, FII's bought Rs.0.77bn worth of Indian equities and DII's sold Rs.3.70bn worth of equities.

- State Bank of Tranvancore closed 2.1-% down at Rs 411.40 on BSE after net profit declined 70.73% to Rs 4-.57 crore on -.9-% growth in total income to Rs 2,773.37 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q4 March, 2013.

- EID Parry (India) closed 1.41% up at Rs 162.10 on BSE after the company said it has acquired 100% stake in Alimtec SA, Chile.

- Granules India closed 9.64% up at Rs 345.75 on BSE, with the stock extending Friday's 2% gains triggered by the company reporting strong Q4 earnings.

- Opto Circuits (India) closed 1.62% up at Rs 31.45 on BSE after the company scheduled a board meeting on 6th May, 2014 to consider fund raising through different options for various purposes.

- Esab India closed 4.0-% up at Rs 494.-0 on BSE after net profit declined -.1% to Rs -.45 crore on 0.5% growth in net sales to Rs 110.42 crore in the quarter ended 31st March, 2014 over the quarter ended 31st March, 2013.

- UPL closed 20.1-% up at Rs 276.90 on BSE, with the stock extending Friday's 7.26% rally triggered by reporting good Q4 results.

- Sasken Communication Technologies closed 7.-1% down at Rs 206.50 on BSE after consolidated net profit declined 1-.4% to Rs 9.07 crore on 2.-% growth in revenue to Rs 116.32 crore in Q4 March, 2014 over Q3 December, 2013.

- Strides Arcolab closed 3.37% up at Rs 544.45 on BSE, with the stock extending Friday's 13.03% rally triggered by the firm's manufacturing facility in Bangalore being approved by the US health regulator after a successful audit of the plant.

- Fulford (India) was locked at 20% upper circuit at Rs -23.00 on BSE after the company's promoter offered substantial premium to delist shares of Indian unit.

ACC closed 1.65% up at Rs 1,2-6.-5 on BSE, with the stock extending Friday's 2.92% decline triggered by the company reporting weak Q1 earnings.

Shasun Pharmaceuticals closed 4.13% up at Rs 127.60 on BSE, with the stock reversing recent rally on profit booking.

Shree Cement closed 2.0-% down at Rs 5,700.05 on BSE after net profit declined 1-.-1% to Rs 222.51 crore on 15.44% growth in total income to Rs 1,714.56 crore in Q3 March, 2014 over Q3 March, 2013.

Wockhardt closed 11.73% up at Rs 721.-0 on BSE after the company said that the regulator in Himachal Pradesh has revoked the suspension on manufacture and sale of a product.

Rural Electrification Corporation closed 0.06% down at Rs 242.50 on BSE after the company said its board of directors at a meeting held, on 2-th April, 2014, approved proposals for raising funds upto Rs 30,000 crore during FY 2015.
